In situ RNA hybridization shows the expression of zATM in early embryonic tissues. Digoxygenin-labeled antisense probes were used to perform the in situ RNA hybridization. Following the color reaction, zebrafish embryos were dissected from the yolk and mounted on microscope slides in 75% glycerol. Images were obtained using QImaging Retiga Exi color CCD camera mounted on a compound microscope, and images were imported into Adobe Photoshop. Image manipulations were limited to levels, curves, hue, and saturation adjustments. As shown in the image, at 24 hours-post-infection, the eye and ventricular regions of ventral diencephelon, midbrain, and cerebellum displayed elevated levels of ATM expression.
