In vivo vascularization of matrigel containing heparin, nucleosomes or fibroblast growth factor-2, FGF-2. Eight-week-old athymic
nu/nu mice were s.c. injected in the ventral midline region with 0.4 ml matrigel containing 25 U/ml heparin, 50 µg/ml nucleosomes
or 100 ng/ml FGF-2. Ten days later, matrigel plugs were excised from the mice and photographed. The level of blood vessel formation
is noted by the degree of red color and the presence of vascular structures within the matrigel plug. For details, see the article
