Primary fibroblasts cultured from the ear tissue of fluorescent yellow direct repeat (FYDR) mice express enhanced yellow fluorescent protein (EYFP) following mitotic homologous recombination in vivo and ex vivo.A recombinant FYDR fibroblast is shown (yellow) surrounded by non-recombinant FYDR cells (blue nuclei are DAPI stained). Images were processed using Spot Advanced Version 3.5.9. The FYDR mice provide a powerful new tool for revealing genetic and environmental factors that impinge on genomic stability in vivo.
