Scanning electron microscopy of cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (cdk6)-infected mouse astrocytes. Infected astrocytes were grown on permanox two-chambered slides, fixed in a modified Karnovsky's fixative, washed, and fixed in 1% osmium tetroxide. Cells were then dehydrated in a graded series of ethanol washes, dried using a critical point drier, and sputter coated with gold palladium. The image demonstrates the altered morphology of cdk6-infected mouse astrocytes. For details, see the article by Ericson
