The mitotic spindle in Xenopus laevis embryos. The condensed chromosomes are aligned at the equator plate of the metaphase spindle. The spindle is surrounded by the yolk platelets. The spindle bipolarity is disrupted by the overexpression of the cyclin B2 N-terminal fragment containing the cytoplasmic retention signal region.
